Studio Production: updating ideas pt 2
Following an informal meeting, I was given feedback on the ideas for the VTs and was told that some of the rounds still wasn't challenging enough and therefore I had to make changes. Not only this but after briefing the previous ideas to Joshua (producer) and the rest of the class, Josh really liked it and thought it would be a good idea to expand on the first 2 rounds ("Casting Call" and "On a Role") and scrap the last two. This meant that I would need to come up with more ideas for both of them to extend the time.
As it stood, Casting Call VT's was running for 1 minute with these 3 options;
- King Kong
- Saw
- Dirty Dancing
- Angelina Jolie - Wanted - Changling
- Johnny Depp - Pirates of the Caribbean -
The Discussion;
- Games are still too easy, Need to choose much more difficult options
- Finalise what style we are going for, Games may come across childish if we don't get the style right
- Finalise the timings of the VT's
- Start creating a script for both VTs
- If the theme is quite adult, it would be good to have adult like props such as a blow up doll that could be a recurring prop throughout. I personally liked this idea because it would really build the "steve Character"
- Think about changing "steve's" name to something that suits his character even more. I personally thought "Norman" or "Barry" would work well as it is a quirky name. Steve to me sounds like an IT technician.
More options for "On a Role"
- Judy Dench - M,
- Morgan Freeman- Shawshank redemption,
- Julie Andrews- Sound of music, Mary Poppin
- Tom Hanks - apollo 13, Big, Toy story
- Christopher Nolan
- Christof Walt
The challenge with trying to think of more options is you don't want the options to be too easy and you don't want it to be too hard. It is difficult when you don't know how old the contributors will be or what kind of films they are into because we could've built options based off of this. This makes me think that in the real world, would there be a casting director which would currently be sourcing contestants at this point? but until then, I will continue to think of general questions that can appeal to a wide range of audiences.
