Studio Production: Finalising the options for the VT Rounds
This is part of my role required me to make executive decisions on how the fee tease will turn out. After careful deliberation, we have decided to change the name of "Steve" to "Norman" as I felt it fit the character character better. My next step was to finalize the order of Normans actions before making the script. Below is my final order of the VTs
Casting Call - Norman Acts out a scene from a film and the contestants have to guess which one
- King Kong - The hitting of the planes - Steve can stand on his table and pretend to hit the planes down.
- The Wizard Of OZ - Dorothy Is talking to the Tin Man -
Dorothy Gale: How do you talk if you don't have a brain?
The Scarecrow: Well, some people without brains do an awful lot of talking don't they?
For this scene, it would be good if Norman was the situate the camera, say Dorothy's line, turns the camera to his blow up doll that is positioned next to him, mimes the response with the blow up doll before stopping the recording.
On a Role - pulls out a box of props and costumes, acts out famous roles from a famous actor/actress
- Johnny Depp- Jack Sparrow and Edward Scissor Hands -pulls out scissors and pretends to cut as well as pulling out empty bottles
- Tom Hanks - Woody and Forrest gump - use of props to illustrate character. Such as a hat for woody and a specific line from forest gump that isn't too obvious
Full action List before making the script
This is the order of how I wanted the VT's to go after careful deliberation with Saskia the VT Director. We sat together to discuss the best actions that he could do to really bring out his wacky character. I thought it would be best to incorporate her visions at the same time instead of me to just make it all up when it might not logistically be possible. After this I was now ready to write the script. One thing I had to remember was;
“it’s important to be flexible enough to take advantage of the unexpected, but also to be strong enough to reject temptations which may be pretty, but which are not relevant” (Lewis, 2000:107)
Ian Lewis, Guerrilla TV (2000)
After reading this quote, I knew this was important as it is very easy to get carried away when trying to structure something. So even though I wrote down actions, I still left room for things to be improvised so it would seem natural and the character would be able to come alive more. Well at least that is what I hope to achieve when testing out this idea.
Next step will be to write the actual script. I must research how to write this properly as I feel as though I may have forgotten how to write one properly.
