Studio Production: Updating ideas for VT



After briefing the initial ideas with the rest of the VT team, they all chipped in their own ideas fro the individual VTs. It is now my job to go through, analyse and select the best, most feasible ideas and put those forward for both Sam Elliot (A.P) and Joshua Jones (Producer) 

 Below are the ideas that I think are the best for each VT
CASTING CALL: x2 Parodies, 1 spare.
  • Dirty Dancing.  - The lift scene - A teddy bear or any object is thrown into shot and "Steve" catches it and spins it. Just like in the movie. Blow up doll instead maybe if we want to make it seem more adult
  • King Kong - Hitting the planes - Steve could stand on a chair, waving his hands in the air. use of something like a baby mobile that can simulate the planes flying around.
  • Saw- The puppet on a tricycle - could be challenging due to the lack of words



FACE SWAP: - Could be called "Role Swap" or "On a Role" x 2 characters. 2 items each
  • Steve has a box of props, he is trying them on in the mirror. playfully throws them off when he's done. 
  • Each prop signifies key characters that are played by an actor.
  • Must guess correct actor/actress

  • Johnny Depp 

  1.  Pirates of the Caribbean (empty bottles, pretends to be drunk) 
  2. Edward scissor hands (pulls out scissors and pretends to cut rapidly) 

  • Angelina Jolie

  1. Maleficent - a Foil headband to imitate her headwear 
  2. Wanted - The bending bullet. Can use a water gun and also imitate with slow motion
- Character could be reading a paper, circles the roles that he may want to apply to. 
Images of celebrities around his room, replaces their faces with images of himself. 
- You can hear his mum calling him through out the VT's 
-performance in front of inanimate objects. 

 All of these new suggestions are intended for character building and adding more depth to the character


 SILENT MOVIES: 

  • The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
  • Snakes on a plane
  • Cat Woman

**NAME THAT THEME: - Still unsure about how to replace this idea.

I AINT AFRAID OF NO HOST: 
  • Not a lot of people are fond of this idea, We still need to think of an idea to replace this.


My role so far has been okay, it is a very new thing trying to listen to everyones ideas because sometimes I find that I am repeating myself and re explaining what the VTs are. I think it is important for all members of the team to refresh their memory of the show via the google drive as this will make idea generation go much more smoothly and effectively.

For my production I wanted to create prosthetics to heighten the believability and the quality of my zombies. I watched a lot of youtube tutorials and I realised that there is a technique to creating such pieces but I was really willing to try it out. Usually you would need to make a a cast for the persons face but I decided to simplify it for myself and just use  plate. I learnt that this could be just as good after watching someone create a brilliant prosthetic that way.  In the video here you can see that she has moulded the clay in to the desired shape and preps it for the covering of the liquid latex. I then proceeded to doing the same.   I was using coloured, oil based clay for mine. I was then required to sprinkle flour over mine to thicken the layer of the latex. News Unit: Shoot Day for promo and presenter

First shoot day What did this day consist of? Today we had to shoot the presenter parts and footage for our promo video. Rosie is our presenter and she was required to talk towards the camera but in a conversational, informal way.  She sat down and familiarised herself with the lines whilst we set up the kit. Our plans for the promo video consisted of getting shots of each member of the team, being fun, stylish and we also wanted to have close ups of make up to go along with the fashion trends that our channel is about. Here is an image of our set up whilst we filmed for the promo vid How was the set up? For our shooting we used a PMW, 4 LED lights, and a tripod. We just used the directional mic that came with the PMW for sound as it would be good enough.  So as we set up the kit  we realised that we were not given stands for the lighting and so we had to improvise. We used the chairs that were in the room, stacked them up and imitated the effect of lighting stands.
