Major Project: First meeting with Andrea

My first meeting with Andrea was really helpful one. She really confirmed my views on what should be added to the film to make it better. In the previous meeting with Simon, he expressed his concerns regarding a second oration as he was quite satisfied with the coverage I already had. I explained that there were continuity Issues and I felt like we were able to see into Isaiah's mind that much, I felt like there was a lot put onto the parents and not so much of his internal thoughts. Upon arriving to the meeting with Andrea she looked at my film and she loved it she love lots of things about it especially the ending but she also agreed that it's missing the elaboration of his internal thoughts So, I briefed her on the ideas I had;

  • One of the ideas I had was to have Isaiah sit behind the fence and hold onto the bars as if he was in prison I would record this from multiple angles and in the flesh in between it to give the idea that he's almost trapped inside a cage, I think this will be able to give us a better insight it imprisonment he feels within his mind. – She love this idea and said I should really go for it

  • The next idea briefed, was the idea that we should hear his thoughts laid upon layers of each other interjected into his spirals of breakdowns.

  • Another idea was to have a timelapse where the camera tracks in and everyone is moving around him once we hear his thoughts the thoughts would then be broken by his parents who ask him if he's okay, He lies and says that he's fine when really, the audience knows that he isn't. I think this will better show the idea of hiding things away from people and how easy it is to just lie. I think this gets to the point of the story quicker without having loads of the dialogue during the dinner scene.

Andrea really like these ideas and said I should go for it, it was really nice to hear feedback because it confirmed that it wasn't just me who felt that way, sometimes you can feel a little lost and no one else can really see where you're coming from with new ideas or by not seeing the issues that you see within the film. Her opinion was really valid to me.

Next step's

  • Continue to plan reshoot

  • continue to piece together the idea in the best way that I can.
