Production notes and evalutation.

Notes on my production During the planning stage of my production, I researched and got inspiration from different places. I ended up having a clear idea of what I wanted my screenplay to be about and how I wanted it to look in the video. Actors and booking equipment. One of the actors that I originally had in mind to play my male character had agreed to play the part, however on the day before, he had to drop out because of personal reasons. Luckily 2 of my classmates where able to step in for me last minute. As I booked the equipment for 3 days, I basically only had one full day of filming because of the timings that I had to collect and return the equipment so it was really important that I filmed that day, especially how all the cameras had become booked up by that time. I would say that I booked out my equipment quite late, although it was still earlier than some, I think I should've planned my shooting dates a little bit better and sooner. However I still think ...

Short film: The New West

Image
The New West Written and Directed by Peter Edlund  "A classic revenge tale begins in a schoolyard and ends at the heart of the modern frontier." The first thing I immediately noticed about this short film was the opening titles. It started with what sounded like diegetic sound, a boy screaming but the screen was still black. Then it flashed to a burning backpack and then back to black. The fact that you can hear what's happening but not see what's happening creates a sense of mystery. Not only that, you're immediately thrown into the action. I think this is a good starting point and it really sets the tone for the film. Even the end credits was really clever in my opinion, it appeared whilst the action was still going on. It allowed you to get a little bit of closure as to what the character would do next and it also made you read the credits because it was right next to the action. I really liked that aspect of the film. Since I have not ...

My Pre production: Risk assessment/Actor contract/ Location Recee

Image
Location Recee Messy bedroom pros: perfect for portraying the characteristics of one of the main characters. Their messy lifestyle will be shown by having strategically placed items dotted all over the room and the bedside table. Cons: The items on the floor restricts my movement and space. I must be spatially aware at all times to avoid injury or damage to the equipment. CLEAN/GIRLY BEDROOM pros: Excellet for portraying my character's organised lifestyle. the room is bright with lots of pink hues in it, further illustrating her "girly" identity. The room is also bright and filled with light. - The room is also pretty big and because there isn't anything on the floor, there is more room for me to move around in with the equipment. cons: The bathroom in the bedroom produces a humming noise from the vent fan once the light is on. There will be some scenes taking place in there and it will be hard to hide that unless I dub over it. Lu...

My Storyboards.

Image
Storyboards Here is my story board that I made for my production 'Undone'. In my story boards I chose to include the different shot types as it makes it easier for me to refer to when shooting. Sometimes the visual aspect isn't enough so its good to have the shot type listed. I also wanted my story board to have more detail than just drawing stick men because It really helps me visualise the shot in case I had forgotten how I wanted it to look.

Writer research & ideas: Misfiits // Howard Overman

Image
Howard Overman Overman is a British television writer who created a variety of television series from the likes of Merlin , Atlantis , Vexed and most successfully   Misfits . Overman has received 12 nominations and 3 wins, all of which were from the hit show Misfits   There Isn't a lot of information on Overman as of yet however I have noticed that the shows he has created, share similar themes of fantasy drama with hints of comedy in there also.  You've got Merlin, a TV show set in the Victorian Era about King Arthur's Wizard (Merlin) a young man on a quest whom encounters many adventures along the way. This show survived 4 years on BBC one before its final episode in 2012. Then you've also got Atlantis, another show that carries the fantasy drama theme but this time it is based on Greek mythology, similarly with a male protagonist on his own quest to find something, encountering all sorts of trials and tribulations along the...

Short film review: 'Wednesday' - Rob Sorrenti

Image
'Wednesday' Written and directed by; Rob Sorrenti Produced by Oscar-nominated film director Stephen Daldry and supported by Working Title Films Screened at 50 Film Festivals around the world Won several awards and has signed by Shorts International - the world’s largest short film distributor   The success of 'Wednesday' earned Sorrenti a nomination for Channel 4's Young Talent Award for best director. This short film is about a young man and woman who were born on the same day, at the same time, at the same hospital, and end up crossing paths again unknowingly at the same place. For me, without even watching the film I was instantly drawn to idea of it. I begun to think about all the possibilities that could happen within it so I went ahead watching with a positive outlook and it did not disappoint me one bit.  I found this film such a delight to watch, it was light hearted yet carried quite serious themes but the way in which it was w...
